WHERE IS RAZLOG?

Razlog Municipality is situated in Southwestern Bulgaria, in the district of Blagoevgrad, and occupies the large Razlog Valley, along the course of Mesta River and the foothills of Pirin, Rila and Rhodoppe Mountains. The municipality covers a total area of 375.8 square kilometers.
It consists of eight villages and the municipal center – the town of Razlog. The latter is the administrative center of the whole region, which includes four municipalities: Razlog, Bansko, Belitsa and Yakorouda. The bigger villages of all eight are Banya, Bachevo and Eleshnitsa.

HOW TO GET TO RAZLOG?

The town of Razlog is located 155 km to the south of Sofia (and Sofia Airport), 53 km southeast of Blagoevgrad, 141 km southwest of Plovdiv and 6 km north of Bansko. The second-class road II-19 (Simitli – Razlog – Sadovo) passes through the municipality, connecting the area with the E-79 International Road and providing a shorter route to Greece through the new checkpoint Ilinden-Exohi. Another second-class road connects the municipality with Velingrad and then – with Trakia Highway.

The narrow gauge railway Septemvri – Dobrinishte is the only one of its kind still functioning on the territory of Bulgaria.
